My Favorite Vintage Accessories

Accessories they can be so overwhelming at times, especially when it comes to pairing them with your vintage attire. So I came up with a little list of my favorite vintage accessories to wear and pair with outfits.

Brooches

These beautiful pins come in all shapes, sizes, colors, some with jewels and other without. They also look classic and can really pull that vintage look together. They can be pinned anywhere; blouses, hats, bags etc. and are a very versatile statement piece.

Bangles

I got into wearing bangles a couple of months ago and I'm pretty much hooked. Every time I visit my local thrift store I'm always searching for a couple new ones to add to my collection. Once again they come in many colors and designs and can add that little pop of color without being crazy bright looking. I find wearing 3 or 4 max on your wrist works well, unless you enjoy that 80's look of wearing 20 or more up your arm ;)

Scarves

I absolutely adore scarves and have way too many for my own good. The great thing about them is they look  nice in the winter and the summer. So its an accessory you can certainly wear year round. They can not only be worn around your neck but also tied on your head or tied onto a handbag. The creative possibilities with scarves are endless.

Hats(Wide brimmed, Cloche etc.)

Depending on what kind of era your trying to emulate, there are so many great hats to choose from, and they are awesome for protecting your hairstyle from the wind and rain while looking fabulous! My personal favorite are the cloche hats from the 1920s.

Handbags

Obviously a bag is a just a given when it comes to accessorizing. But finding a good vintage handbag is another, if you happen to find one, snatch it up as you'll have yourself a snazzy accessory for every outfit. My favorite types of vintage handbags are the ones with the snap closures on the top.

That is my little list on accessories, hope my post gave some ideas that were helpful or maybe I opened up some creative inspiration as well.
Have a good weekend!

My favorite classic looking lipsticks

Yes lipstick the one major part of a vintage style girl's makeup bag. In my opinion the look just isn't complete without it. Back in the day I used to hate lipstick, those bright frosty colors and the way it stayed on my face every time my grandmother kissed me on the cheek when she was visiting. Now I can't live without it! When I'm finishing my makeup, my lipstick is always the last thing that I put on because I feel like it completely finishes the look, without it I feel like I'm walking around naked! I have so many memories of my grandma never leaving the house without her lipstick on. Whether it be a simple trip to pick up groceries or a night out to dinner, that stuff was on. So I'm going to share with you my favorite shades of lipstick that have found permanent homes in my makeup collection that look timeless and classic.

Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick
Shade Name -Siren
Price-$8

I came across this lipstick when I was searching for a coral color, but I thought to give this a try! I love the Revlon lipsticks they always seem to work the best for me. As for the color it is a cross between orange and a coral pink when you first glance at it. When its on your lips however it changes completely. For me it becomes a bright beautiful orange that you would associate with the 1960s. As for texture these aren't matte lipsticks so they are much more moisturizing.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
Shade Name- Fire and Ice
Price-$8

I absolutely adore this color. It always reminds me of the 1950's and its no surprise as it made its debut during that time, so this is one shade that is tried and true. Once again not matte and the color is a deep coral almost like those raspberry popsicles I used to eat as a kid.

Benefit Full Finish Lipstick
Shade Name- Flirt Alert
Price-$18

This is the perfect candy apple red. It has blue undertones but I find when I put it on it warms up against my skin tone. The formula is moisturizing but dries to a bit of a matte finish when on.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick
Shade Name- Alarm
Price-$7

Out of all the drugstore lipsticks I have tried, this one seems to last the longest on my lips! The formula isn't overly drying or moisturizing, so it seems to balance out. The shade is quite a dark red, almost along the lines of a brick red but is gorgeous on!

Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick
Shade Name- Poppy
Price-$6

This brand really surprised me as I had never tried their makeup line before and its super affordable for someone on a budget. Their matte lipsticks, I am hooked! Perfect amount of coverage and staying power. Not overly drying and lots of beautiful shades to choose from. This shade is a tomato red with a hint of coral and orange tones. Im not sure if this brand is available outside of Canada as I purchased it from Superstore. Also I noted that this shade might be discontinued, I sure hope not :( When I was poking around the Joe Fresh website I came across a color that looked similar but with the name of "Melon". So I will certainly be looking into that because I love this shade and I would hate to see it disappear lol.

I hope you enjoyed my little post on me sharing my fave lipsticks. I have yet to walk into Mac territory they seem to have some lovely shades that I will have to give a go in the future.

How is your week going so far? Mine has certainly been an interesting one! Yes my hair has changed I decided to buy a wig just to change it up. I have been growing my hair out from a pixie cut for over a year now and its painfully slow sometimes! I decided to splurge on a lace front wig since they have a tendency to look more realistic. Onto the outfit, I really felt like pairing other shades of blue together to create different contrasts. I have such a habit of wearing neutral colored cardigans or sweaters with color to the point where it becomes too predictable. It was so beautiful out when we took the pictures and warm that I didn't have to wear nylons or tights to keep warm. In some ways since moving I'm still trying to rediscover my style because of the small town I lived in before hand. The every day outfit for people living there consisted of hoodies and lulu lemon pants. So I was seriously overdressed by everyone else's standards and I think some of that casual-ness rubbed off on me. Plus I started to get tired of being gawked at and the negative comments, so I guess sometimes its just easier to blend in. I find when dressing vintage people are going to stare, it just comes with the territory of being unique.

Dita Von Teese Style Inspiration

I've been searching quite a bit for vintage style inspiration, I feel like every time spring rolls around my wardrobe starts to feel stale to me. So what better way to drool over Dita von teese's impeccable wardrobe! This lady has always been someone I look up to when it comes to classic vintage style. When someone thinks of Dita, the first thing that comes to mind is super glamorous which yes of course she is! But some of her everyday wear is cute and sexy as well.

I don't know about you but I would totally dress like that at the grocery store if I didn't have to lug five bags of groceries home on foot! Her floral print dresses are also to die for. Can you say fabulous! Who inspires your vintage style?

Have a great monday!

Bangles-Thrifted
1950's Bag-Thrifted

I thought I'd better get an outfit post going soon or everyone is going to think I'm gone again! Absolutely perfect day for pictures not too hot, barely any wind and not a cloud in the sky. Sounds like summer is on its way! I'm finally getting better from a 3 week stint of being sick, fist pump for that :) I've also been wearing lots of color lately,so I decided to wear a classic black dress and add some great spring accessories. I also have a new obsession of wearing bangles. I found these ones at a thrift store for 99 cents each, the orange one is especially intriguing as it reminds me of an orange creamsicle. Along with this really awesome hand bag I spotted a couple months ago when thrifting. It still has its own original tags in it, which I used to research the brand which was manufactured in the 1950's. Every time I look at the bag I wonder if it had been sitting in grandma's basement for a long time until some one decided to do some spring cleaning down there! In my opinion that is the best thing about finding items at thrift stores, every item has some sort of story behind it.
Hope you are all having a great week!

Excuse my messy hair as the wind was blowing thirty billion miles an hour out there! I finally got my hair cut it was in need of some love. I'm so happy its growing out finally though, around this time next year it should be long yay! There are tons of flowers in bloom now so I thought something floral and bright would make a good outfit, unfortunately its still a little chilly and I'm wearing thermal tights in these pictures haha. Well nothing new to report over here, just job hunting still, its been raining lots and im sick again with some awful flu/cold ick! I'm off to make a hot cup of honey ginger tea.
Have an awesome day!
